Why Choose Us?

Clean, safe and sustainable, we give 2% to 'ghostdiving. org.' Global technical divers, volunteering to clean our sea beds.

S.O.S.-Pots cleans Cornwall's beaches, and hand sews plant pots made from the 'Ghost fishing net'.

The public, children, locals, visitors, and volunteers are an inspiration, as they clean the beach and donate rope into 'The Mermaid basket', our rope collection point at the entrance to Porthtowan beach, Cornwall, U.K.

SOS-pots last over 400-800 years. The time span for nets to biodegrade. SOS-pots are waterproof, storm hardy, and durable. Perfect for Indoor or outdoor use. SOS-pots keeps the rope out of ‘landfill’.

If you want to send us your 'ghost' fishing rope from a beach clean, we can turn it into a personal pot for you.

"Every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume, everyone, everywhere is inextricably connected to and utterly dependent upon the existence of the sea."

Hello and a sunny Cornish welcome from S.O.S. pots and 'The Mermaid Basket'.

You may have heard about ghost gear? The United Nations estimate that 640,000 tonnes is discarded into our seas per year. This can cause concerns for our marine wildlife and shorelines, but we love 'Ghost gear'!

With sandy hands, we drag nets up the beach, climb into crevices and hook out stubborn plastic or rope. We have a rope collection point called 'The Mermaid Basket'. You can join in too.....

*******************************************

It started with a turquoise tub that washed up one day. After attaching it to the entrance at Porthtowan beach, Cornwall, U.K., we made a sign saying;

 'Have a 'golok' of rope or string? - Put it in this 'ere thing'. ( 'Golok' is Cornish for vision. )

A big thank you to all our wonderful locals, children, visitors, volunteers, divers, teachers, protectors of the worlds coastlines, everyone who has beach cleaned and donated rope to 'The Mermaid Basket.

We will continue to support you with planting awareness to Save Our Seas.
